Together with a further 20 companies from industry, research institutes and the ZVEI, LTI Motion is working together in the 6th Energy Research Programme of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy to implement the energy revolution in industrial production. The goal of the DC-INDUSTRIE research project is to redesign the power supply of industrial plants via a smart, open DC grid and to digitize the industrial energy supply architecture. This will create the industrial energy system of the future – a DC-based smart grid for industry. At the same time, more energy efficiency and energy flexibility will be brought into industrial production.
LTI Motion GmbH has many years of experience in the field of power electronics and control technology for regulated drives, in particular multi-axis systems with a common intermediate circuit.
In the DC INDUSTRY project, LTI Motion has developed concrete solutions for DC-fed servo axes and associated regenerative supply units in the power range of approx. 5 - 30 kW. In addition, concepts for the integration of short-term energy storage units in decentralized use were developed. The load distribution was based on a characteristic curve method. The supply unit and the servo axes were extensively tested in the KHS model system. The new earthing concept, interoperability with different manufacturers, and the protection concept against short circuits and earth faults were tested there.
